Conserving our natural resources in order to preserve our world and environment is somethingthat we all need to do now. With the greenhouse gasses increasing the planets annual averagetemperature, we are destroying the very world we will be leaving for our children and generationsto come. We need to consider renewable energy sources. Sure, there will be an initial cost,but it will be in dollars, not in costly non-renewable resources. Every watt of electricitywe use, that isn’t generated by renewable energy sources, is gone forever. I encourage my familyto turn off any light they are not using, when they leave a room. Yes, we use low-energy lightbulbs, which only use 20 watts of electricity, it seems like such a minimal savings on theenvironment. Indeed it is, but if half the population of the US would do this, the environmentalimpact would be a noticeable amount. The US population is around 300 million. If everyone couldcut electric use by a mere 5%, such a small amount, it would be an enormous amount of electricity,savings. The impact on the environment would be reduced and natural resources could be conserved.Sure, it wouldn’t be the end of our natural resource usage, or even make a large impact onour ever increasing global warming, but it would be a start. What about gasoline? If all the drivers in the US could find a way to use 1 gallon of gasolineless per week? That would also justify a start towards a healthier environment. We need to bemore conscientious of our actions and uses, on our environment and natural resource. I hear many people say that it doesn’t save much money or it doesn’t impact them financially.That isn’t the point. Water is important, but it is also abundant. Or so most of us tend to think since we always have steady water supply. But water is not as abundant as you think, and scientists fear that at some point, the earth?s water supply will be depleted. If you think you?re not contributing to this possibility, think again.
